How do I fix heat creep / clogging mid-print?
- 1
Lower nozzle temperature by 5–10°C. Heat creep happens when too much heat travels up the heatbreak — lower temps reduce this.
Setting:
others.nozzle.nozzleTemp - 2
Increase retraction speed and reduce retraction distance. Too many long retractions pull molten filament into the cold zone, causing clogs.
Setting:
speed.retraction.length - 3
Ensure the hotend fan (not part cooling fan) is running at 100%. This fan cools the heatbreak and prevents heat from creeping into the cold zone.
Pro tip: If this happens on long prints, select "Fast Print Speed" above to reduce print time and minimize exposure to heat creep conditions.
