PC Print Settings

Expert-recommended PC (PC) settings for all Bambu Lab printers

Why use PC?

  • Highest impact resistance of any common 3D printing material
  • Heat resistance up to 130°C — suitable for near-engine applications
  • Optically clear when printed correctly — light transmission applications
  • Excellent electrical insulation properties
  • Used in professional/industrial applications (safety equipment, lenses)
  • Self-extinguishing flame resistance in PC FR variant

What are the best PC print settings?

Use default Bambu Lab temperature profiles for PC. Recommended outer wall speed is 120 mm/s.

SettingValueNote
speed.layers.outerWall120Slow for PC quality and warping control
speed.layers.innerWall200Moderate inner wall speed
speed.layers.sparseInfill300Reduced speed for high-temp PC
speed.initial.layer25Very slow first layer for PC adhesion
speed.initial.infill50Slow initial infill
support.advanced.topZDistance0.25Larger Z gap — PC bonds aggressively to supports
others.bed.brimTypeOuter and inner brimEssential — PC warps heavily
others.bed.brimWidth10Maximum brim width for warping control
quality.precision.elephantFootCompensation0.25High bed temp squish compensation
strength.walls.wallLoops3Extra walls for PC impact resistance
strength.infill.density25Higher infill for structural PC parts
support.thresholdAngle25PC needs support at lower overhang angles
quality.advanced.avoidCrossingWalltrueReduces stringing on PC

What nozzle size should I use for PC?

fine0.4mm

0.4mm nozzle — PC is challenging at fine resolution

medium0.4mm

0.4mm standard nozzle

coarse0.6mm

0.6mm for faster PC prints with less warping

How do I dry PC filament?

Dry PC at 80°C for 8-12 hours. Critical — moisture causes bubbling and weak layers

What support material should I use with PC?

Recommended: PC base + tree supports with increased Z gap

Base: Same as model (PC) | Interface:

PC as both base and interface — no compatible dissolvable support exists for PC temperatures. Use tree supports with 0.25mm Z gap to ease removal.

Expert Tips for PC

  • PC requires the HIGHEST printing temperatures (270-300°C) — H2D handles this, A1 cannot.
  • Enclosed printer is ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY for PC.
  • PC is the most warp-prone material — use maximum brim, consider a raft.
  • Dry at 80°C for 8-12 hours. PC absorbs moisture readily.
  • For clear/translucent PC, print at higher temperature with slower speed.

Which Bambu Lab printers work with PC?

X1 CarbonX1X1EH2DH2D ProH2SP1SArtisan

Use with caution on: P1P, A1, A1 Mini, Ender 3 V3 SE, Ender 3 V3 KE, Ender 3 S1 Pro, J1

Alternatives to PC

PETG HF

If you can accept lower heat/impact resistance in exchange for dramatically easier printing

Trade-offs: Lower heat resistance (~80°C vs ~130°C). Lower impact resistance. Not optically clear

ABS

If you need high heat resistance but at lower cost and easier printing than PC

Trade-offs: Lower impact resistance than PC. Not transparent. Still needs enclosure
